Meath and Kildare enjoyed wins over Antrim and Down respectively in their Leinster MHC round 1 knockout ties this afternoon.

In Clane, Meath pulled away from Antrim in the closing stages for a 3-17 to 2-12 victory. The Royals led by 2-6 to 0-7 at half-time thanks to goals from Cathal McKeown and Conor McGovern, but Antrim had reduced the gap to just two points, 2-10 to 2-12, with 10 minutes remaining. However, a second goal from McKeown settled it.

The meeting of Kildare and Down in Abbotstown was a complete mis-match which resulted in a facile 7-36 to 0-5 victory for the Lilywhites after they had led by 3-19 to 0-3 at half-time.
