Aughlisnafin club notes

November 19, 2018

It is with a very heavy heart that we inform our fellow gaels that Sean Flanagan RIP passed away peacefully last Thursday afternoon surrounded by his loving family. Sean was a very talented and committed footballer for Aughlisnafin GAC from an 8 year old, playing at every grade before breaking through on to our senior team in 2015. Such an unassuming and polite young man who was extremely well thought off both within our club and wherever he went. Words cannot begin to convey the heartbreak we feel for his beloved parents Paddy and Collette, for his brothers Patrick, Oran and Aaron, and his sisters Orla, Corinne, Sheenagh and Connee, and their extended family circle and friends. Sean’s father Paddy is our esteemed former chairman, his brothers Patrick, Oran & Aaron, our club players, his sisters Orla & Sheenagh our esteemed committee members and former ladies footballers along with Corinne, and Connee our underage member. They, along with Gavin, Ciaran and Molly and the extended family circle and friends, are all in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. The large attendance at Sean’s requiem mass held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Aughlisnafin on Sunday afternoon was of some comfort to Sean’s family with our club providing a guard of honour along with members of our neighbouring clubs and schools. May Sean rest in eternal peace. Ár dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal. St Faustina, pray for him.

*As a mark of respect our young Scór na nÓg Ballad Group withdrew from the East Down final which was held on Saturday in Finnis.

*A meeting for all senior players will be held in the annex at Aughlisnafin Community Hall this Thursday at 8 pm. While this meeting was planned for all our players, and indeed new players, to meet our new management team, it will also provide everyone with a chance to meet up for a chat after a difficult period for the club.
