The U18 Gaelic Tullylish v An Riocht did not take place.

In the Senior Camogie at Clonduff, An Riocht held the county champions to a single point, 3-12 to 4-8. This was a great effort, there is no 'i' in team and the group cause trumped individual glory. Balls were passed to the half and inside forwards rather than hit and hope deliveries; forwards drove at the defence, splitting them open and direct opponents were taken on, some forwards passing multiple players and taking a score was so good to see. We hit a good number of wides but shots were taken which is what we want to see. At one stage we were down by seven points in the second half so there is no doubting the effort that was given for the full sixty minutes to get it back to just a point. Defensively we battled hard on the dirty ball, hooking, blocking and flicking the ball away. Space was made on puck outs when the midfield dropped closer and left room for the half forward line to get onto the puck out. So unfortunate not to seal the win but not bad to stay within a point of the best team in the county. Lots of positives to take but also areas for improvement too if we really want to be in the top division - first touch still needs lots of work, but effort couldn't have been questioned. The spectators really enjoyed the commitment and close battle, there was plenty of cheering! Well done to every player, including the subs who answered the call to ensure we had a squad available for this difficult away fixture. All the things worked on at training came good, but that commitment must be consistent if we are to finish the league with another couple of wins and face into the championship with confidence. This is where An Riocht need to be, these are the tests that improve players, junior should be but a stepping stone for those with ambition.

Team: Joanna Sloan, Louise Rodgers, Aine O'Reilly, Clara Killen, Cerys Clarke, Nicole Kelly, Marie Trainor, Aine Fearon, Patrice Matthews, Maria Higgins, Carrie Killen, Tierna Rooney, Tiarna Donnan, Clare Fearon, Aoife McDowell. Subs: Orlaith O'Rourke, Ellie Hughes, Shaunece Harper.

At the U16 Gaelic Bosco v An Riocht, we won 1-10 to 0-9 in Newry. The home side scored first, and we were playing catch up throughout the first half until an Eoin Killen point in the twenty-fifth minute put us ahead for the first time, but Bosco hit back to level and but for a great save from Curtis Flanagan, the Newry side would have led at the break. Ryan Mackey and Jack Rodgers were surging forward at every opportunity and Aidan Gribben proved a lively and able target man at the edge of the square. Elsewhere Marc Cunningham collected lots of ball through good determination and being strong in the challenge. Bosco played with a sweeper which freed up Jack Chambers who displayed good positional sense and intercepted lots of Bosco passes. Though we lost a man eight minutes into the second half, we were fortunate the crucial score of the game followed almost immediately when Ryan Mackey scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot. Lots of Bosco pressure was repelled and we struck well on the break, pin point accuracy from kick-outs and clearances setting up attacks which yielded the final two scores of the night to Aidan Gribben and Ryan Mackey. Scorers: Ryan Mackey 1-3 (pen, 3f), Jack Rodgers 0-3, Aidan Gribben 0-2, William Harper 0-1, Eoin Killen 0-1.

It was a disappointing night at the Senior Gaelic Burren v An Riocht. We were very much in the game at half time eight points to four in arrears but collapsed spectacularly in the second period. It was a flat performance, we were pulled asunder at the back and wasteful up front, second best all over the field to an ordinary enough Burren fifteen. Fortunately results elsewhere went for us but we need to use the fortnight break wisely to refocus for the league run-in. This was a performance no one will want to remember but everyone should. Scorers: R McAlinden 0-2 (1f), N McArdle 0-1 (f), S Doran 0-1 (45), R Cunningham 0-1, C Clarke 0-1.

At the U12 Gaelic Tournament in Longstone, our boys played games with Bosco, Annaclone, Eire Og, Glenn and Longstone on their way to the Shield Final.
