11am Men's Shed; 6.15pm P6 Gaelic; 7pm to 9pm First Year+ Girls Group gym/nutrition; 7pm to 9pm First Year+ Boys Group; 7.30pm Senior, Reserve & Minor Gaelic; Camogie Child Protection training in Castlewellan; 9pm Lotto

Thursday 8th March, camogie workshop on delivering an effective wall ball session with double All Ireland winning coach Joe Passmore

Wednesday 14th March, the Men's Shed visiting Kingspan Stadium for a Men's Health Awareness Morning, Stadium Tour and lunch.

 

Friday 16th March, Irish Stew and Concert at Dunavil

 

Saturday 17th March, cross community parade in Newry

 

Monday 26th March, Men's Shed Red Cross First Aid course, names to the Shed asap as places are limited.

An Riocht has established a 'Coaches Hub' which all club coaches can use individually or in groups to access the latest coaching information. There are manuals from such as John Morrison 'Advanced Game Sense, Head Hands & Feet for Better Technique & Spot and Fix'; Ger O'Connor 'Having A Ball, All the Right Skills and Ready to Play'; Joe Lennon 'Fitness for Gaelic Football'; Pat Daly 'Complete Coaching Guide to Gaelic Games, Catch & Kick and Strike & Lift'; Ulster GAA 'Coach Guidelines and Gaelic Start & Fundamentals'; 'Wallball Drills for Camogie & Football and Lesson Plans from U6 to Adult' in both codes; 'Player Analysis and Player Pathway' manuals from Croke Park; and our own 'An Riocht Coach Resource' files made up of drills and best practice articles from such as Barney McAleenan, Niall Moyna, Mickey Ned O'Sullivan, Steven Poacher, Sean O'Neill, Philip Kerr, John Morrison and the Monaghan, Kerry and Dublin Coaching Departments. Also, with full broadband access coaches can keep up to date with the latest trends and download drills to take onto the pitch or into the hall with them. An Riocht Coaching Officers Veronica MacGreevy (Camogie) and Seamus Curran (Football) launched this new resource on Saturday past at Dunavil.

Inside the first week we have had a tremendous response to our football tournaments invitations with 44 teams from 7 different counties signing up.

 

The 'All Together Now' group visited 'Snow White' at the Warrenpoint Panto Club on Wednesday.

The Ladies of Mourne group held a Food Hygiene course at Dunavil on Saturday.

 

On Friday past, Mourne Stimulus enjoyed the first of what we hope will become regular Movie Days at Dunavil.

 

This weekend Dunavil hosts a major fundraiser with 'Rory's Stories'; any help to set up the hall on Thursday or Friday or help with the clean-up on Sunday morning from 9am is appreciated.

 

Thanks to everyone who supported the Club through the purchase of a Down Draw ticket.

 

Membership should all be in by the end of this month, anyone without their membership paid should not be training and anyone wanting to play in matches must be paid in advance, no exceptions.

 

Opening underage football fixtures are as follows U12 on 25th March home v Drumgath, U14 on 26th March in Rostrevor, Minor on 27th March home v Bosco and U16 on 29th March home v Longstone.

In the Basketball NI Cup Quarter Final on Friday past, the Knights won a close contest 84 to 81 over visiting Belfast Phoenix at Dunavil and now play BC Wolves from Cookstown in the Semi Final. This weekend the table topping Knights resume their league campaign in Dungannon.
