Kingdom Youth Club Gets into Christmas mode

The Kingdom Youth Club would like to take this opportunity to introduce our sensory den situated on the ground floor in our new training and project room consisting of a child pod swing chair tent, textured climbing wall, luminous illustrations, mathmos space projector, LED mirror ball, soft foam play surface, sensory cushion, infinity mirror and Bluetooth speaker. This room is designed by the young people to assist develop a young person's senses through touch and special lighting while also creating a safe space. This room can also be used as a therapy for young people with limited communication skills as well as ASD etc and is tailored to suit their needs.

As an inclusive youth club, we feel this will provide more of an opportunity for young people with sensory issues to feel comfortable in attending youth club activities. We would encourage all parents/young people to avail of this asset and welcome any ideas/programmes young people would be interested in or ideas to make our youth club more inclusive for all abilities and ages.

Our 'All Together Now' programme has been running since September 2017 and will continue to do so until March 2018 with the possibility of further programmes after this. All Together Now is aimed at and tailored to all young people aged 12 to 18 years both with and without disability by providing new and exciting opportunities such as a residential experience, trips, workshops, games and awareness training; and by helping young people become more aware of their own thoughts and feelings and how their behaviour and actions impact on themselves and others. Through the use of 'buddies' (pairing), this programme raises awareness and breaks down barriers by providing young people with opportunities to support and mentor and make a difference to their own and other young people's lives.

All Together Now provides the opportunity to make new friends, it runs every Wednesday evening from 7pm to 9pm and we have places available for any young person aged 12 to 18 years.

On Thursdays we have 3 different groups meeting; from 6.30pm to 8.30pm there are activities for boys and girls aged 4 to 8; from 7pm to 9pm there is a Girls Club for those aged 8 to 12 years; and from 7pm to 9pm there is 'Bridging the Divide' inclusion programme, buddy up with a young person who is new to our area or who has english as a second language. All 3 groups will be making Christmas themed crafts this week.

This Friday, 24th November at 7.30pm, Santa will arrive at Kingdom Youth Club on his reindeer driven Scandinavian sleigh to turn on our Christmas illuminations and pose for photos, everyone is welcome to come along and meet Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Tea, coffee, and treats will be available.

On Saturday 25th November at 4pm as part of Dicken's Day festivities in Kilkeel, Kingdom Youth will take part in the Santa Walk through the town behind Santa and his sleigh from the Kilmorey Arms Hotel to the lower square and all young people involved will receive a medal.
