St Eunan's Letterkenny club notes

September 19, 2017

The Minor Boys Footballers won their County Championship Final in style on Saturday in a rain soaked Convoy. The boys got off to a great start registering 2-03 early on and after briefly letting Kilcar back into the game they grabbed another 2-02 in first half injury time to virtually seal the win. They played a very controlled 2nd half adding another goal to reclaim the Minor title that was won in 2015 on a score of 5-10 to 1-07. Congratulations to the management and players on a super year that included a trip to the USA in July and they now have an Ulster Championship campaign to look forward to.

The Senior Hurlers came up short in their first final in 15 years but it's been a great breakthrough for this young team and there is more to come in the future no doubt. They lost 1-16 to 1-08 after a good start and will have learned a lot. The talent coming through is starting filter into the Senior ranks and that bodes well for the future. Well done to the management and players. Congratulations to Setanta on their win. Thank you to The Brewery for a splendid meal after the game.

The U14 Boys footballers met Dungloe, also in Convoy on Saturday and they too did the business and lifted our 3rd consecutive U14 Co. Championship title in a row. They led by 1-05 to 0-04 to 0-04 at half-time and a strong second-half saw them run out convincing winners by 3-12 to 1-06. Congratulations to the players and management on their victory. Both the U14's and Minors enjoyed a fabulous meal in The Mount Errigal Hotel afterwards, our thanks to Terry and Loretto for looking after the teams so well.

The Junior men will contest the Senior C Championship Final v neighbours Glenswilly this Saturday at 2pm with venue tbc. Best of luck to Alan, Ciaran and the players. Keep an eye on social media for venue updates.

The U16 Boys footballers were beaten in Gaoth Dobhair on Friday night but bounced back with a good win over MacCumhaills in a close game on Monday night winning by1-15 to 2-09. Depending on the result between Convoy and Gaoth Dobhair on Tuesday night they could face a 3-way play-off.

The U16 Girls footballers will take on Aodh Ruadh, BS in their county semi-final at home on Saturday, September 30th with throw-in time tbc.

The U13 Boys Div. 1 team were awarded their game v Termon last week after the Burn Rd. team failed to field, they were beaten by a strong MacCumhaills team on Monday night. They host Glenfin this Sunday evening (24th) at 6pm. The Dev. team beat Lifford last week and play MacCumhaills Dev. team this week.
