Football

Aodh Ruadh return to league action on Sunday, travelling to Scarvey to take on Buncrana. Reserves get us going at 1.30pm, with the senior clash throwing in at 3pm

Under 16 training continues this Wednesday at 1.30pm. The side are due to take on Naomh Columba in the last round of the league stages this Saturday down in Glencolumcille. Time and travel details to be confirmed.

The division 1 under 14s took on Four Masters twice in the past week. Unfortunately the honours went to the Donegal town men on both occasions. Last Wednesday Four Masters were 3-9 to 4-4 victors in Tir Chonaill Park, improving on that scoreline with a 3-10 to 2-4 win over the homesters in Father Tierney Park on Monday evening. Ardara conceded the points for the division 2 sides last remaining league fixture.

The division 1 under 12 side overcame Dungloe 4-10 to 3-5 away in the league. Meanwhile the division 2 side's clash with Na Rossa was postponed. Training continues on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5pm to 6.15pm.

Ladies

Under 16 training continues on Sundays at 7.30pm and Thursdays at 7.45pm.

Goals were to prove the difference in the under 14 county decider played in good conditions at an immaculate MacCumhaill Park on Saturday afternoon. Aodh Ruadh outscored Downings 16 to 13, but they failed to find the net and had they done so the match could have taken a dramatically different complexion. The final score was 0-16 to 4-9. Despite defeat Aodh Ruadh still had a number of excellent displays across the park, Aine Hill made two superb stops while Grainne Maguire was the best defender on show on either side. Lucy McGlynn didn't let her athletic exertions of the morning or the cross-province trip from Belfast dent her efforts one iota. In midfield there were two great performances from Ella Clancy and Caitlin McGarrigle, both fighting every inch of the way. Downings packed out their defence so Aodh Ruadh's scoring return was all the more creditable. Captain Sarah Jane Keon broke her holidays in Portugal to jet back for the game and created a lot of difficulty for the Downings defence. She converted six frees to finish as Aodh Ruadh's top scorer on the day. Elsewhere Aoibhínn McGarrigle took three quality points from play and Emer O'Brien got through a sight of work. We have a full match report up on aodhruadh.org. Thankfully the girls have the prospect of Féile this coming weekend to raise spirits. The girls leave by bus from Father Tierney Park on Friday at 12.45pm. All players to wear Féile gear. Each player to bring change of clothes, a packed lunch for Friday and two pairs of Aodh Ruadh socks and shorts. Good luck on the All-Ireland stage. Training continues Tuesday and Thursday at 5.45pm.

Under 10 and under 8 training continues in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh on Mondays from 6.15pm to 7.15pm.

Hurling

Aodh Ruadh lost out to Castleblayney in the Táin League on Saturday afternoon, the Monaghan men running out 3-15 to 2-5 winners.

The under 14s suffered a disappointing defeat against Saint Eunan's in the B Championship Final on Thursday last. The lads struggled to get into the game and missed a number of scoring opportunities. They battled hard, but couldn't get the better of the Letterkenny lads and lost on a 4-4 to 1-6 scoreline.

The under 12s had an entertaining challenge game against Erne Gaels on Monday in Belleek and were comfortable winners on the night.

Training for all age groups continues as normal this Sunday at 12 noon.
