Recently retired Donegal defender Eamon McGee says he expects the Tir Chonaill men to be back in the Ulster SFC final again next summer.

Donegal have contested the last six Ulster finals, losing out in last year's decider to Tyrone, and face Antrim in their 2017 championship opener with a win pitting them against either Derry or the Red Hands.

McGee will not be a part of Rory Gallagher's plans for 2017 but still feels there are more than enough talent within the squad to challenge for another Anglo-Celt Cup.

"Donegal are still going to be knocking about, and in my opinion, they will be in the Ulster final in 2017 again," the Gaoth Dobhair clubman told Donegal News.

"It's definitely within them when you have Ryan McHugh and Michael Murphy, Frank McGlynn and Karl Lacey, and you have boys coming up like Kieran Gillespie and Ciaran Thompson.

"When you have talent like that knocking about a squad, then a provincial title is definitely within their grasp."
