McDermott seeks improvement

Donegal manager Ardal McDermott believes that his side need to improve if they are to make their mark in the Nicky Rackard Cup.

Last weekend, the Ulster side got their campaign back on track when defeating Fermanagh, but McDermott believes that they will have to improve further if they are to see off Monaghan in the quarterfinal.

"It was great to get the win last week and it is a boost to confidence given the season so far," McDermott told the Donegal Democrat.

"But the reality is that was probably our worst performance in a few weeks and it would not be good enough to beat Monaghan.

"Monaghan are a much better side than Fermanagh; they beat them by 12 points in the first round of the championship and they reached the Division 3A league final, albeit they were well beaten by Roscommon in the final."
