Paddy McBrearty was hospitalised after suffering suspected kidney damage while playing for Ireland in last night's International Rules Test match at Croke Park.

The young Donegal forward, who was making just his second appearance in the series, collided with the post in the 11th minute of the second quarter and was subsequently taken to hospital.

"Paddy is away to hospital and we hope he is okay. He's just away to get checked. I think it's his kidney," Ireland manager Joe Kernan told the Donegal Sport Hub.

"Two parts of him his the post. Things happen in matches, but we hope Paddy is okay."
