Silence on the sideline!

September 30, 2015

Termon GAA Minor Board and Kilmacrennan Celtic soccer academy joined forces last weekend to jointly promote the "Silent Sideline" approach to their respective Gaelic Football and Soccer games. Proposed by Kilmacrennan Celtic Academy's Trevor Gorman, both codes agreed that by the children seeing the benefits in both codes the approach would make a greater impact. On Saturday morning at the Burn Road over 80 U8 boys and girls representing Termon, Dungloe and Fanad Gaels enjoyed the benefits of the silent sideline and the on Saturday evening and Sunday the u8s and u10s from Kilmacrennan Celtic (many who had represented Termon on Saturday morning) and Swilly Rovers enjoyed the same experience. Thanks to the coaches and supporters from Dungloe, Fanad, Swilly Rovers for embracing the approach and allowing the children to play without a constant sound of instruction and direction and instead the children get to play and enjoy their games even more. Well done to all involved.
