Eamon McGee's controversial ban proved costly as Goath Dobhair were sensationally knocked out of the Donegal SFC by Malin last night.

The All-Ireland winning defender was sent off by referee Paddy McGonigle against Sean MacCumhaills last weekend and had his appeal against the red card rejected by the Donegal Hearings Committee on Saturday morning.

Malin, who are managed by former Antrim boss Liam 'Baker' Bradley, took full advantage of the absence of McGee and his brother Neil to win by 3-8 to 1-11, with Dan McDaid helping himself to two goals.

Karl Lacey, Barry Dunnion and Barry Monaghan were to the fore as Four Masters registered a 2-13 to 1-10 victory over Division 2 outfit Cloughaneely, while Michael Murphy was outstanding as Glenswilly accounted for Sean MacCumhaills on a 1-14 to 2-7 scoreline.

In the weekend's other SFC games, Naomh Conaill overcame Ardara 2-13 to 1-9, St. Michael's edged out Glenfin 2-7 to 1-8 and county champions St. Eunan's defeated Dungloe 0-14 to 1-6.

The Donegal SFC quarter-final draw is as follows:

Glenswilly v St.Eunan's
St.Michael's v Malin
Naomh Conaill v Termon
Kilcar v Four Masters
