Carr is new St. Brigid's manager

Roscommon football kingpins St. Brigid's have appointed Paddy Carr as their new manager.

The much-travelled Donegal native replaces Benny O'Brien, who stepped down following the Kiltoom club's recent Connacht club SFC semi-final defeat to Ballintubber. O'Brien led Brigid's to a five-in-a-row of Roscommon SFC titles last month, while his predecessor Kevin McStay delivered the All-Ireland club title in March of last year.

Carr himself is a former All-Ireland club winning manager with Kilmacud Crokes (2009). The long-time Navan resident has managed a host of other club sides and also took charge of Louth in 2002 and 2003. He managed Burren to a Down SFC final appearance this year, but they came up short against Kilcoo for the second year in-a-row.

He was interviewed for the Donegal manager's post after Jim McGuinness vacated it last month, but the selection committee chose Rory Gallagher instead.
