Paul Durcan, Donegal's All-Star goalkeeper will take part in this year's great Ethiopian run on Sunday, November 23rd in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, while acting as ambassador and fundraiser with the Vincentian Lay Missionaries (VLM).

While in Ethiopia Paul will visit some of the 26 projects in which VLM and its 250 volunteers have been involved in since it began in 2002, especially a newly founded school for Deaf children and a project for those suffering from Hanson's disease (formerly Leprosy).

Paul will be accompanied on this visit by Fr. Stephen Monaghan of VLM, former national chaplain to the Deaf in Ireland, and now closely associated with the first new school for Deaf Children in Ambo, south of Addis Abeba.

Speaking about the challenge Paul said: "I am delighted to be able to help in some small way with the magnificent work that VLM are undertaking in Ethiopia," -  a sentiment which fits in perfectly with this not-for-profit organization, namely Do One Thing, Do Something!

Another highlight of Paul's visit will be an opportunity to meet in person the renowned long distance and marathon record breaker and former world record holder, Ghebre Hailie Selassie.

Paul has received sponsorship from KN Group of which Donagh Kelly of Donegal Town is CEO. To find out how you can support Paul's fundraising efforts please visit www.vlm.ie
