Donegal expecting 20,000 final tickets

September 04, 2014

Donegal supporters celebrate.

Donegal expects to receive a ticket allocation in the region of 20,000 for the All-Ireland football final on September 21.

When Jim McGuinness' men last appeared in the showpiece game two years ago, the county received 14,500 tickets, but the involvement of their minors in the curtain-raiser should lead to more tickets becoming available this time around. The same applies for Kerry who are also involved in both finals.

"All we know is that we got around 14,500 tickets in 2012," Donegal chairman Sean Dunnion replied when queried by the Irish News on the county's likely ticket allocation.

"We are expecting a few thousand more than that. We just don't know what we will get and we don't want to say in case people will be disappointed when the allocation is announced."

The chairman is also urging supporters not to panic yet.

"There is always that initial panic after the semi-final," he noted.

"Clubs should be the first port of call, particularly for members. They should get their orders into their clubs as soon as possible. For others, it's a matter of getting the feelers out anywhere and everywhere.

"There is no doubt that the county board will not be able to satisfy all the demand."
