Neil and Michael greet their first customers.

The opening of Donegal's newest sports store attracted huge crowds last weekend. Donegal team mates Michael Murphy and Neil Gallagher officially opened their new venture, 'Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure' last Friday week. A queue gathered outside in anticipation of the opening and Murphy and Gallagher welcomed a steady stream of well wishers all weekend. People from across the county came to show their support and check out the new store, which offers a wide range of leading brands across almost 7,000 sq feet of retail space. Online support was also phenomenal, with the store's Facebook attracting over 10,000 likes in just one week.

The Donegal duo's families were in the shop to mark the big day. Murphy was joined by his parents, Mick and Mary and his grandfather, Michael.  Neil Gallagher's parents were also in store, together with his brother, sisters and nieces and nephews. Others visitors included Donegal team mates Eamon McGee and Rory Kavanagh. County Manager Jim McGuinness also spent a few hours in the shop, signing autographs and posing for pictures with delighted fans.  Other visitors included John Haran of St. Eunan's, who came in with his son Ollie, and Mick and Julia McGinley, the parents of Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley.

Over the course of the weekend, thousands of customers checked out the new store, which includes a custom-built golf section and the northwest's only golf simulator. They also had the pick of all the leading sports brands including O'Neills, Nike, Adidas, Asics, Puma, Mizuno and Canterbury, along with a comprehensive range of golfing brands, including Callaway, Ping, Taylormade, Titleist, Under Armour, Cobra, Footjoy, Clevland and Srixon.

Commenting on the opening weekend, Michael Murphy says: 'Neil and I are overwhelmed by the support shown to us. We really enjoyed meeting everyone and are delighted that so many came in to show their support - it means an awful lot. We met people from all over the county this weekend and they're as excited as we are at the prospect of taking on Dublin in Croke Park. That's where the focus is and we're looking forward to a great battle.'
