Cassidy: break will do McHugh good

Kevin Cassidy has backed Mark McHugh's decision to take a break from inter-county football.

The 2012 All-Ireland winner is spending the summer in New York after sensationally quitting the Donegal panel in March, and former team-mate Cassidy - who was dropped from the panel by Jim McGuinness a few seasons ago - is predicting that the Kilcar man will come back feeling refreshed in 2015.

"Whatever happened, freshness or whatever, he's taken a year out and it's probably the best place," Cassidy said at the launch of the Wild Atlantic Way charity cycle in Ardara.

"If he was at home, people would be asking is he going back or will he go back. But he's a young lad, let him go off and enjoy himself and he can come back fresh next year.

"This will do him no harm, recharge the batteries, and he can find a bit of hunger and come back again."
