Donegal defender Karl Lacey believes that the county can get back to the form they showed in 2011 and 2012.

Lacey, who himself is battling back to full fitness following a torrid last 18 months is adamant that they can return to the form that helped them win the All-Ireland title two years ago.

Speaking to the Donegal Democrat he said: "It was a tough year for us last year. This year has been all about getting back to where we were in 2011 and 2012. We took it one game at a time then and we're back doing the same now.

On his own fitness he added: "I'm getting there. Last year was frustrating for me. I'm taking a slower approach to it this year and it's just about building it back up again with each game and each week. I'm doing that and picking up no niggles along the way, which is a massive help in keeping fresh."

Donegal are continuing their preparations for the Allianz NFL Division Two league final when they take on Monaghan in a repeat of last year's Ulster final.
