Jim McGuinness cut a contented figure after Donegal beat Armagh to secure an instant return to Division 1.
Michael Murphy bagged a brace of goals as the Tir Chonaill men sealed their place in the Division 2 decider against Monaghan in three weeks' time.
"While it has been a good campaign for us, the most pleasing aspect is that we have got several players back on board who had been out for long periods. We now have a divisional final ahead of us that will prove ideal preparation for the Ulster championship," the All-Ireland winning manager said.
"It's good to get promoted at any time, but we're very happy with their attitude and their work-rate and it's great to go straight back up. We're happy enough with the league, apart from maybe the first half of the game against Meath."
