Donegal in dark over online ticket sales
May 10, 2013
Donegal chairman Sean Dunnion admits that he did not know that tickets for their Ulster SFC clash were going on sale this week.
The All-Ireland champions take on Tyrone in Ballybofey on Sunday, May 26th in an eagerly anticipated clash.
There is a great demand for tickets for the match and both counties have expressed their concern over the number they received.
However, Dunnion was surprised to hear during the week that the tickets had gone on sale in Supervalu and on tickets.ie, the GAA's website.
"It caught us totally unaware," Dunnion told the Donegal Democrat. "We didn't know at all tickets were going on sale online or at Supervalu.
"By the time I got to Belfast the tickets were sold out so I addressed the issue with Brian Mallon, the finance officer at the Ulster GAA council.
"We spoke at length but he wouldn't commit to me the breakdown of tickets. I mentioned a figure of 1,000 and was told I was in the right ballpark. He explained that both Supervalu and tickets.ie came from the one pool of tickets and we now understand that pool was roughly 1,500."
