Fit-again Karl Lacey lined out for both club and county over the weekend.

The Footballer of the Year had been sidelined since featuring for Four Masters in a county SFC semi-final last October and underwent hip surgery in December.

He returned to county training last week and is quickly making up for lost time.

On Friday at Markievicz Park, the inspirational centre back Lacey played the full hour for Jim McGuinness's Donegal in a behind-closed-doors SF challenge against Galway (a game where Donegal used 14 of their All-Ireland final starting XV).

Three days later, on Bank Holiday Monday, Lacey lined out for Four Masters in their ACFL Division One clash with Kilcar yesterday - a match which also saw the return to competitive action of fellow All Star Mark McHugh.

Lacey (28) has started every single championship match for Donegal since the 2004 qualifier against Fermanagh and he now looks very likely to be fit for the Ulster opener against Tyrone on May 26th.
