Donegal want to stay up - Gallagher

Rory Gallagher insists Donegal are determined to preserve their top-flight status.

Victory over Dublin at Ballybofey on Sunday afternoon would be enough to keep the All-Ireland champions in Division One for another season and assistant-manager Gallagher says this is a definite priority:

"There's absolutely no doubt about that - we want to stay up," the Fermanagh man says in The Irish News. "Division One is the place to be for preparing for the championship.

"We stayed up on the last day last year and it was a great boost going into championship training knowing that you'd stayed up.

"We're in our third year and it's practically the same base of players, bar a few younger lads who have come in.

"We haven't used a huge amount of players in the league, so we have a fair idea of where we're at and where we want to be in the championship.

"So, if we go down, we go down. It's not on our radar; it's not something that we want.

"We want to be competitive and, looking forward to next year, it's a better place to be in February and March because of the level of teams you're playing."
