Michael Murphy has been named as Donegal's senior footballer of the year.

The honour was bestowed upon the Donegal captain at last night's Donegal GAA annual banquet at the Abbey Hotel in Donegal town. The event also saw Murphy and his Donegal team-mates presented with their Ulster SFC and Allianz League Division 2 medals.

The individual caps another great year for the Glenswilly clubman who lifted the Anglo-Celt Cup for a second successive year and also received his third All Star award a few weeks ago.

Also last night, Termon's Geraldine McLaughlin was named ladies footballer of the year, while Naomh Conaill's Ciaran Thompson was presented with the Gradam Sheamuis Mhic Geidigh award for best player in the Donegal SFC.
