There is a meeting of the club executive this Thursday at 9pm in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh. All committee members are asked to attend.

Football

Congratulations to the Donegal team and management on making it back-to-back Ulster titles on Saturday with a convincing win over Cavan.

Aodh Ruadh seniors fielded something of a scratch side against Glenfin on Saturday. Despite that it looked like the Ernesiders might get a result out of the fixture for much of the game. Aodh Ruadh lead 1-1 by the end of the first quarter and the sides went in level at 0-5 to 1-2. Ballyshannon hit their best form in the third quarter and going into the final 15 minutes the visitors held a 0-6 to 1-7 lead. However, Aodh Ruadh failed to add to their tally and Glenfin hit an unanswered 1-3 to win on a final scoreline of 1-9 to 1-7. The reserve game was postponed. After a run of away games, Aodh Ruadh will enjoy home comforts this Sunday. Naomh Columba are the guests in Father Tierney Park with the reserves going off at 1.30pm followed by the seniors at 3pm.

The Aodh Ruadh minors return to action this Tuesday, 25th July, when they take in Killybegs. Throw-in down in Fintra is at 7.30pm.

Good luck to the under 14s as they head off to Féile this weekend. The lads are in Ballindine on the Mayo / Galway border for their two Friday group games. They play local side Ballindine first and then Offaly outfit Kilcormac / Killoughy. On Saturday they are in Headford to play the home club in their last group game before moving on to the quarter-final stages.

The under 12 season came to an end on Saturday when the lads came off second best against Naomh Conaill. Thanks to all the players for their efforts over the year as well as the management team of  Paul Gillespie, David O'Donnell, William Doogan, Seamus Roper, Andy Brennan, Paul Sheridan, Kenny Vaughan, Paddy Kelly and Rory McGloin.

Under 11 training has commenced and runs on Mondays and Friday at 7.15pm.

Our under 8 boys played Dungloe on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning with 40 boys togging out. Everybody got full games, and played very well. Thanks to David Downey and John Hughes for reffing. This Friday we play MacCumhaill's in at 6.30pm. Boys to be up for 6pm with the action wrapping up about 7.30pm.

Under 13 training takes place on Tuesdays in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh from 5.30pm to 6.45pm.

Once again the weather was good as the under 12s wrapped up the first round of league fixtures with the visit of Muff last Thursday evening. The juniors got things going and exchanges were very even. Muff opened strongly with a goal and a point. Aodh Ruadh responded with a point from Nessa Warren and Lucy Byrne goal. In the second half Muff pushed on and despite a strong defensive effort from the Shamettes they took the win. Aodh Ruadh did have the last say though with Leah Melly netting a glorious goal. Player of the match was probably Katie McCaffrey who put in a serious shift. Abbie Gallagher was fantastic in midfield, and was a miss when she injured her ankle later in proceedings. Rebecca Downey and Sara Begley formed a great defensive partnership. The senior game saw Aodh Ruadh winning well, although Muff did put up strong resistance, especially in the second half. In defence Megan Murphy was superb with her reading of the game, with Katie McGowan also very resolute. Ciara Larkin, Lauren Foy and Louisa McCosker were all in superb form in the middle third, making great use of the ball. Orlaith Gallagher again showed she's a special attacking talent and Niamh Duffy's ball-skills were really something to see. Many thanks to our referees on the day, Sandra Sheerin and Síofra Hughes. Big thanks also to everyone for supplying goodies and especially those who did such a great job with the post-match catering in the Aras. Training as usual this Wednesday at 7pm.

The under 8 and under 10 girls are training from 5.45pm to 6.45pm on Wednesdays.

Under 6 training continues at Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh this Friday from 6pm to 6.45pm.

The annual ladies Duck Race takes place this Friday. All those with outstanding cards are asked to start getting them back to their managers.

Hurling

Good luck to the senior hurlers who host Carndonagh in their Junior Hurling Championship opener on Saturday. Throw-in at 7pm.

The under 16s are in Letterkenny on Thursday to take on Letterkenny Gaels at 6.30pm.

The under 15s travelled to Carndonagh on Thursday to take part in the County Óg Sport tournament. Five clubs took part; Aodh Ruadh, Carndonagh, Letterkenny Gaels, Buncrana and Burt.  The lads played well throughout the day winning all their games, they now go forward to represent Donegal in the Ulster Óg Sport tournament.

The under 12s began their league campaign last Thursday at home to Saint Eunan's. This enthusiastic squad have been working hard in training over the last few months. It was encouraging to have 23 lads togged out on the night with all getting game time. The lads hurled well and had a comfortable win over the Letterkenny lads. They are at home again this Thursday against Burt.

Last Saturday saw the Donegal under 15s record a big win over Mayo in the Hibernian Cup. Our representatives on this squad were Aaron Cullen, Danny Breen Brosnan and Pauric Daly. Denis Daly is part of the management of this squad. Donegal under 14s lost to Mayo on the same day. Aodh Ruadh were represented on this squad by Tommy Winters, Cian McKenna, James Gallagher and Kenzie Ayres. Well done to Aaron Neilan and Danny Breen Brosnan who have been selected to take part in the Ulster under 15 training camp in Jordanstown. This is a great honour for the lads and the club.

Underage hurling training continues on Sunday for all teams at 12 noon.
