Donegal boss Declan Bonner expects “a very open game” when his charges take on Cavan on Sunday for the right to be crowned 2019 Ulster football champions.

The Tir Chonaill men take on the Blues in the northern province’s decider for the first time since 1983 and are 1/3 favourites to claim the crown they defeated Fermanagh for 12 months.

Speaking to RTE Sport ahead of the showdown at Clones, Bonner says he’s confident his team can deliver once more if they hit the right notes against the Breffni County this weekend.

"The Ulster final in Clones is a special day and it's where every team wants to be in Ulster. We're lucky enough to be there again and are looking forward to it,” he stated.

"We went long enough without being there so we'll take every one we can get at this stage. Some of the guys have played in eight finals, some are playing in their first final this weekend.

"There's a special build-up to the day and I'm sure there is serious hype in Cavan as this is their first final in a number of years

"At the end of the day, there's no point going to Clones on Ulster final day unless you win it. If we can get our level of performance to where we know we can get to then we're in with a big chance. 

"I think we will have a good final and a very open game. The majority of GAA people in the country are looking forward to it."
