Donegal were comfortable victors over Cavan in the Ulster minor football championship this evening

It’s Donegal who will take on Monaghan in the last four of the Ulster MFC after they saw off the challenge of Cavan in their round 2 qualifier fixture at Kingspan Breffni Park this evening.

The Tir Chonaill outfit registered an impressive 1-18 to 2-7 victory set up a semi-final date with the holders.

Despite conceding a 26th minute goal to Cian Farrelly, the visitors took a 0-10 to 1-5 lead into the break.

The home side’s cause wasn’t helped by the dismissal of full-back Peter Smith at the end of the opening period and Donegal made the most of their numerical advantage after the break.

Shane Monaghan’s 48th minute goal put them six points clear while Sean Mc Evoy netted a late consolation goal for the team in blue and white.
