St Patrick's in Ballyragget was founded in 1954

St Patrick’s Ballyragget chairman John McGrath came to his side’s rescue in a recent Kilkenny IFC championship match.

The 65-year-old was called upon to take up a place in the team after they had started with just 15 players and when one of their players got injured in the second half, McGrath duly obliged by filling the void.

Donning his glasses, the sexagenarian went in at full forward for the last 20 minutes of the game.

However, his efforts were in vain as St Patrick’s lost the championship quarterfinal/relegation play-off by 6-10 to 0-02.
