Naomh Adhamhnáin club notes

April 23, 2019

Brian McCormick’s Sports & Leisure Division One / Division One Reserve.

League action continues this weekend with a busy fixture load for both teams. Later today (Friday), O’Donnell Park will play host to the visit of Glenswilly with the Reserve game starting at 5pm and the Seniors starting at 6:30pm. This will be quickly followed up with a trip to Glenties to face Naomh Conaill on Sunday afternoon (Res 1:30pm / Snr 3pm).
Last time out, it was an away trip to Cloughaneely and thankfully, both sides came home with a win under their belt. The Reserves had a fairly comfortable victory, making it two wins from two for them, while the Seniors did prevail after having to weather a storm.

A closely-fought to 1-9 to 1-7 saw them come through a tough battle.

St Eunan’s Super House Draw

The House Draw weekend is upon us and we’ll be changing a few people’s lives on Sunday when the draw itself takes place at the Mount Errigal Hotel. There’ll be live music on the night from Paddy Kelly on what sure is to be a great night. It goes without saying that you’re all invited, so be sure to pop along and see the spectacle.

The draw will take place at 10pm and now is a good chance to give huge thanks to the committee who have worked tirelessly to see this through. Their work is still not finished yet, of course, and they are still seeking help with the final push at Brendan McGlynn’s

offices on the High Road. It’s a great to chance to take part in the final buzz of this great event.

Be sure to try and volunteer for a while if you can this weekend!

Yes Chef Catering Region 2

The Juniors had a Bye last weekend, but they return to league action on Easter Monday with a home game against Malin (3pm). Alan O’Connell’s men looking to go in the defence of the league title that they won last year.

Senior Hurling League

After a weekend of rest, the hurlers return to action this Sunday when they host Buncrana at 6:30pm and next Friday, they will then travel to Burt to partake that starts at the same time.

Minor Hurling League

Last Tuesday, the minor hurlers lost out by a score of 2-14 to 2-9 away to Setanta, however they responded in the best way possible with a 1-11 to 1-7 victory in Buncrana on Thursday; a win that puts them right back in the race for top-spot in the league table.

NRB

U12 Division One and Division Three

A Monday evening meeting between our under-12s ended in a win for our fledgling stars as they overcame a tough run of results to beat Termon away on Wednesday while the Division Three side did likewise away to Robert Emmet’s.

The B side, unfortunately, lost out to Downings but overall, it’s been a good week for this group of lads.

NRB u16 Championship

Both under 16 games were postponed. The first time will now meet Muff in a game that is due to take place next Friday 26th April (further details tbc) while the Development Squad had to abandon their game due to the unavailability of a referee on the night.

Senior Ladies Football

Last time out, our Ladies lost out Termon but they’ll be looking to put things right when they travel to Glenties for a meeting with Naomh Conaill on Monday morning. Start-time there is 11am.

Club Lotto

Good news this week for Laurence Blake (Letterkenny) and Martina McGrenra (Glenswilly) in this week’s Lotto. The numbers drawn were 3, 21, 25 and 31. Well done to both our winners there.

Congratulations to Kieran Tobin who was named as captain of the Donegal Minors for the Championship season this year. A great honour for this talented and very humble young man. We extend our highest salutations to him and his family at this proud time.

Sunday Morning Academy

No academy this weekend as it’s Easter Sunday. We’ll be back the following week, however.

FAO:

Underage Managers

A gentle reminder that all underage managers must notify Charlie McAteer if they are planning to host a friendly / challenge match. This is so the Secretary can apply to the County Board for insurance purposes.

Bereavement

Profound sympathies to the McAteer and McBride families who lost their son Donough this week in tragic circumstances. The McAteer family are well-known in and around Letterkenny, largely because of their family business (‘County Seat’) that is located on the Main Street. Donough would have been celebrating his second birthday on the day of his burial.

Words fail me at this point.

May the angel rest in peace.

Ulster

AOB

An important email to all coaches will go out early next week. If you feel you should have received it, but didn’t be sure to let me know and I’ll forward it on.

Finally,

we’d like to wish all our members and their loved ones a safe and Happy Easter. Go easy on the chocolate, folks.
