The Ulster minor club football championship got underway yesterday with Crossmaglen Rangers and St Eunan's registering quarter-final wins.

Dara O'Callaghan scored the only goal, while Cian McConville chipped in with five points as the Armagh kingpins Cross' coasted to a 1-12 to 0-6 victory over their Fermanagh counterparts, Derrygonnelly Harps, at Colaiste Feirste, Belfast last night.

At the same venue, St Eunan's of Donegal weathered a second half comeback by Tyrone's Errigal Ciaran to prevail on a 3-11 to 1-15 scoreline. Eunan's led by 2-6 to 0-7 at the interval thanks to goals from Oisin McGarvey and Padraig McGettigan, but Errigal scored six unanswered points after the restart to reduce the deficit to the minimum before a second major from McGettigan settled the winners.

Next Sunday will see the preliminary round clash between Dunloy (Antrim) and Wolfe Tones (Derry) and Oliver Plunkett's (Cavan) and Ballyholland (Down) take place in St Paul's GAC and Colaiste Feirste respectively.
