Write Derry off at your peril states Donegal vice captain Hugh McFadden who is in no doubt the Oakleafers will be a different side to the one that lined out in the NFL.

Derry's league campaign ended in relegation from Division Three and they will ply their trade in Gaelic Football's bottom tier next year.

Their chances of making an impact in the Ulster SFC have been written off by many, but McFadden told the Irish Post, that Donegal will not be taking them for granted.

"They'll be written off because of the national football league campaign that they had. They dropped down to Division 4. But there are a lot of good footballers in Derry, believe me.

"Their club scene is as good a standard as anywhere in the country. They'll have the Slaughtneil contingent back in and they'll have had a good window to get some serious training in. We're expecting a huge challenge from them.

"We'll get nothing easy. But for us now, we'll look to get the heads back down, review this and look to bring what we're learned into that game. It'll be another massive two weeks' preparation."
