On what was a packed weekend of Allianz Football and Hurling League action, Donegal's first ever hurling league victory over Down went almost unnoticed.

The Tir Chonaill men led from pillar to post to beat their Ulster rivals by 0-17 to 0-14 in O'Donnell Park, Letterkenny yesterday.

Like Mayo, who have 100 per cent record in Division 2B, Donegal hurling has come on in leaps and bounds, and a win or a draw away to Armagh next weekend will see them retain their Division 2B status, which would be another first.
