Aodh Ruadh club notes

January 03, 2018

Happy new year

Aodh Ruadh would like to wish all our players, mentors, administrators and members the very best for a successful, prosperous and happy 2018.

Pitches closed

Aodh Ruadh's three playing fields are now closed for vertidraining, re-sodding and other maintenance  works. No bookings are being taken until further notice. The position regarding pitch access will be reviewed during February.

Hurling

With inter-county football returning this week don't forget to get your entry in for Aodh Ruadh Juvenile Hurlers' Last One Standing competition. Many thanks to Liam Gallen Mr G's who is sponsoring this year's fund-raiser. Cards can be obtained from any member of Juvenile Hurling Committee. Contact John Rooney on 086-2587793 for any information.

Dinner Dance diary date

The annual club awards dinner dance is on Saturday 20th January in Dorrian's Hotel. Thankfully the club had a successful 2017, so we have much to celebrate as well as our usual individual awards on the night with music afterwards. See next week's notes for full ticket details.

Colman's Charity Kickabout

Many thanks to all who took part in whatever capacity in our annual Kickabout for Colman on 28th December. The weather was good and plenty of craic was had as Aodh Ruadh came out to help raise funds for Donegal Bay Cardiac First Responders. The showpiece clash of the 1992 Ulster Club Minor Champions and the Aodh Ruadh All-Stars finished honours even and the prestigious Colman Kerr trophy was raised jointly by captains John Muldoon and Seamus Kane with Colman's brother, Gerard Kerr, making the presentation. We would like to thank the Donagher and Kerr families for providing refreshments on the day and thanks to our match referee Shane Toolan. Thanks also to everyone who brought supplies on the day. As ever, people were very generous and there was a great lift for the good causes. We have pictures from the craic up on aodhruadh.org.

Christmas quiz

Many thanks to everyone who attended the Big Bad Interactive Fun Quiz in Dicey's over Christmas. Thanks everyone who helped out on the night and our prize sponsors. Once again a big turn out of teams took part in a great night's craic which proved a big success. Congratulations to Barry Ward's team who were overall winners on the night. Also many thanks to our Master of Ceremonies Shane Toolan, Niall McKee who provided IT support and John Hughes who set the questions.

National Draw 2018

Sales of National Club Draw tickets are nearing an end and those with returns are asked to make them to Lisa McTernan or Gerard Ferguson at their earliest convenience. The prizes are, as ever, spectacular. They include a new Renault Dynamique, a €2,000 travel voucher, various All-Ireland final ticket packages, and shopping vouchers ranging from €1,000 to €250 in value. To increase your chances of winning further there is also a Donegal County Board draw and an Aodh Ruadh draw for €100. Once again, Aodh Ruadh keeps 100 percent of monies raised by the club. Tickets are available from Lisa McTernan and Gerard Ferguson and committee members.

Inter-county Season Tickets

Season Ticket pricing for 2018 has been confirmed by Croke Park. Adult Club+ season tickets are price €200. Adult season tickets are €120. Juvenile season tickets are €30. As in the season just past, The Club+ season ticket allows the owner to attend club fixtures within the chosen county. The grades and codes of club fixtures covered by the Club+ element of the ticket are determined by the individual county. Once the season ticket is correctly maintained throughout the season, the Club+ version will also guarantee the ticket holder an All-Ireland Final ticket should their county qualify, regardless of their attendance percentage. Clubs will receive €100 for every Club+ season ticket purchased by club members. Renewals and sales are now live.

Abbey Centre Bingo

The last bingo of 2017 was the December Big Bingo which was held last Friday night. The €800 jackpot went to Con Burke of Frosses, whilst Patsy Dowds of Pettigo took the stand up game prize in the amount of €160. There was no claim on the winter snowball so it rises to €250 on 46 numbers or less. All from the Bingo want to thank all our bingo goers for their support in 2017 and wish everybody a very happy New Year. We look forward to normal bingo this Friday at 9pm at the Abbey Centre with a €2,000 prize fund, books priced just €10.
