Leo McGinley (RIP) and his nephew Sean McGinley with Kerry's Eoin 'Bomber' Liston.

The sole survivor of the first Donegal minor football team, Leo McGinley, has passed away in his 101st year.

Leo, who turned 100 last August, was a native of Kilcar but had been living in Limerick for many years. Despite his great age, he attended Donegal games up until recently and was president of Kilcar GAA.

He played corner forward for the Donegal minors in 1934, and '35, winning an Ulster medal in the latter year. Donegal were subsequently beaten 3-3 to 2-3 by Tipperary in the All-Ireland semi-final at Croke Park.

May he rest in peace.
