Question about Ballinderry,
i am a ballinderry man and i have always supported derry due to my club playing their football in the oak leaf county. However when one poster suggests that each and every individual ballinderry supporter should then support derry almost as a default position i would have to disagree. The comparison of greenlough to ballinderry doesn't add up. in ballinderry the address on every household has tyrone in it even though there is a sizeable proportion of the parish in derry. as far as i know greenlough is in derry and there is no real ferocious debate on county allegiances.

Can Derry Beat Mayo??
Aww now wayno! me thinks Dublin peaked to early this year, No leinster titles for the Jackeens.
----
i dont think they have peaked too early orlaith to be fair , i think they have been very lucky to win the amount of games they have done especially seen as mayo where so wasteful and derry didnt turn up , i dont believe in the myth that is peaking too early , each win breeds confidence which is never a bad thing at this time of year , the difficulties is keeping the inevitable hype down with the dubs orlaith , we all know this dublin team wont be winning sam , but believe you me if dublin want to win leinster they will and meath and kildare wont be able to stop us , they are still not as good as us , we are by far the best in a very bad bunch in leinster , but sure only time will tell
best of luck to derry in the championship anyway orlaith , if you have read my posts prior to the dublin and derry game you would know i have alot of respect and admiration for Derry GAA

Redhand - i thought mc cartney had a decent game agianst you's but tell me this would you start him for tyrone?
Thats basically what it comes down to, every player for Tyrone would start on a Derry team, the same cant be said the other way around unfortuantely.
Also i fear its the end for Seamus Bradley due to his cruciate, not many come back fully after that and he wasnt making a big impact when he did start.

Fr Ted - Wasnt at the game so cant comment, but in the games i have seen him play he has been very poor. Perhaps i am doing him an injustice as its only been 2 games i think and Rome wasnt built in a day.
Ive seen him at club level and he never struck me as outstanding, good yes, but outstanding no.

Deighan no longer on the panel, Hinphey has opted for the hurling team and Seamus Bradley has torn his cruciate.

if I was DC, this would be my first IV (PRESUMING ALL FIT)
Deighan - better shot stopper than Gillis, good accurate kick outs
McGoldrick, needs to build on potential shown in 08'
McGuckian, solid under high ball, tenacious man marker, experienced
Hinphey, has the attributes to be a tenacious corner back, speed, tackling ability
O'Kane - arguably the best attacking half back in Ireland at present
Lynch, superb against tyrone at CHB, his best position (ala Macrory cup 2002)
SL McGoldrick - comfortable on the ball, good engine, would get up & down the field all day
Patsy Bradley - needs to build on the potential he showed earlier in his career. A good anchor @ No.8
O'Boyle, outstanding prospect as proved in Sigerson & U21's
A McCartney - Ball winner & also a good direct ball carrier, caused us alot of problems a few weeks back, didnt get the recognition he deserved
Kielt - the most promising young footballer in Ireland at the moment
Eoin Bradley, all the potential in the world... but… theres no "I" in "team". Needs to buck his act up. Could be a special player if he did.
Seamus Bradley, got all the tricks in his locker and pace to burn, needs to feed off a big man IMO to build his confidence up.
Doherty - I've put big doc in the FF line, looks a bit laboured & tired at MF the moment, but easily one of the most accomplished in the country. A change of position may rejuvenate him & help young seamus bradley
Paddy Bradley - needs no introduction…
I think the likes of McCloy, McCusker, Muldoon etc have had their chance for Derry & ultimately failed & should step aside for some very promising Youth which clearly exists in Derry. Just my opinion lads (& Orlaith), looking in from the outside like... To be fair I have watched Derry closely this past few years and cant understand how you'se havnt made a bigger impression in the championship.

The trip to Monaghan hints arn't going to well, Infact not well at all, I'll keep er lit and see what happens. I probably will end up cheering on the hurlers. (which isn't too bad)

I would assume you weren't at the U21 game the other week, young O Boyle was bay far Derry's best player, and cleaned out Tyrone's midfield

Have to agree bosch. The hurlers are going well at the minute and it would be nice for them to get a bit of support for their last home game. Lets hope they get more support than they did for the Kerry game. Seemed even the Doire hurling fraternity stayed away.

Footballers are in Scotstown. Not a ticketed match. Hurlers are at home to Armagh in Celtic Park on Sunday. Probably a lot more entertainment watching the hurlers at the present time.

Ive compiled a list of our "forwards" and my thoughts;
Paddy Bradley - county standard
Eoin Bradley - county standard
Mark Lynch - county standard
Caolan O Boyle - has shown nothing to suggest he is county standard
Collie Devlin - always injured but showed glimpses he was up to it
James Kielt - nearly there but not really tested in champo yet
Declan Mullan - potential
Wilkinson - tried before what suggests he's up to it now
Enda Lynn - not county standard
Brian Mullan - not a forward
Eoin brown - not county standard
Aidy McLaughlin - potential
Lee Moore - never seen him play senior county yet
Sean Leo McG - potential but untested at half forward yet at county
Barry McGoldrick - more of a back/ midfielder
Barry McGuigan - looks to be more a back but havent seen enough to know

How many of them do you think are proper county standard though?
Id say 3 or 4 at most, most of the rest have been tried and not been up to scratch.

590421 Derryman who are these forwards that will flourish if Paddy Bradley wasnt there?
Enda Lynn, Eoghan Bradley Mark lynch or B mc Goldrick Seamus bradley (injured) Lee Moore Declan Mullan Brian Mullan R wilkinson A Mc laughlin eoghan Brown and there is two or three very good lads that were impressive in the U21s as well. None of them may have the flair or natural ability that Bradley has but their workrate and team play is what we need.
