But whatever the result , THANKS BRIAN / PADDY / AND MANAGMENT TEAM AND OUR HEROS ON THE PITCH FOR GETTING US BACK TO THE TOP FLIGHT AGAIN.. one other we point i cant help but mention , please dont forget about conor mc atamney / swatragh. Congrats on your win yesterday!! Derry looked like a team yesterday and it shows the difference a manager with a bit of know how can bring to the table in comparison to the shambles in Ballybofey last year. I've a gut feeling that this could be the start of a revolution in Ulster for Derry. I still think that Donegal and Tyrone are the two best teams in Ulster and after that its Derry. I think you'll beat Down and give the winners of us and Tyrone a tight game. If we go down to Tyrone I hope its Derry that go on and win Ulster.

It must be a good situation for Derry team and management to be going into a championship with absolutely no pressure. They don't have to win another game for the rest of the year and they have already achieved more than anyone had dared hope for .
For me I just want them to go out and give it a lash , see what happens. A good showing against Down would be an improvement on any expectation we had after longford last year.

So Good luck to the lads you have already given me hope for the future of Derry football.

I know what your saying manfred but with respect don't necessarily agree. We were rock bottom when BMI took over and now were a division one team, yes we can certainly get beat by down and play the loser of Donegal/Tyrone and be out but I think that's worse case scenario. This team is improving with every game and there's a belief growing that real progress can continue to be made. Personally and realistically I think we'll beat down and take good performance and moral victory in the next round and look to get a few favourable draws getting us to last 8. This season is all about building and were ahead of schedule but I for one think we've raised expectations now and I'm happy with that after the debacle that was last year.

I think this current crop has performed beyond expectation. I hope they beat down i think they will beat down but i agree with manfred that they should be feeling
No pressure

Brian McIvor is a great man, you are very lucky to have him. He was treated disgracefully by certain elements of our county board which hasn't been forgotten up here. I'm still embarrassed about it.

Brian has progressed this team further than anyone expected. They do work on
Their weaknesses. And i have never seen a derry team play for each other like this one.
Well done

Brian has worked wonders with them. To get the players winning consectutive championships games was a key objective after winning Division 2 this season, as it helps them gel as a squad and excel as a team.

Derry are clearly on the right track, and hopefully it will continue into the August bank holiday weekend and beyond. This team have huge potential, and if they believe in themselves, they will go on to much greater things.

Yes Derry are definitely a team on the up. Would ye ever think of getting Joe Brolly in as team psychologist ? Would love to be a fly on the wall for one of his team talks.

Err no, don't think that role would suit him.

Disagree Derry are further back than they have ever been. Dumped out by Cavan a division 3 team. Call that a good season???? We are rubbish and McIvor has brought the team backwards. We need a new manager......quick

What did you expect in his first full season in charge? The current Derry team has plenty of talent, but need to build confidence and more belief. Brian McIver has got them winning again, with the Division 2 league title. And while exiting against Down in Ulster was dissapointing, they beat Sligo and repaid Down in the Qualifiers.

Yes Cavan may be a Division 3 team, but they only narrowly missed promotion to eventual Ulster Champions Monaghan and Leinster runner's up Meath and Cavan did make the All Ireland Quarter final's. If Derry has the same underage Investment and organisation that Cavan have, we would probably be challenging for Sam as we speak.

Derry need to Improve the Strength and Conditioning for next season, as they are in for a tough and very unforgiving Division 1 campaign. I do fancy Derry to stay up though.
