Cork maintained their 100% record in Division Three, while Longford remain unbeaten and Derry got the better of Tipperary.

In front of 1,658 people at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, the Rebels made it three wins from three when inflicting a 0-16 to 1-8 defeat on Down.

The hosts led by 0-8 to 0-2 at half time, having played with the assistance of the gale force wind, reeling off seven unanswered points after Donal O’Hare had opened the scoring.

A Mourne County fightback was inevitable but the Leesiders bossed the third quarter and points from Ian Maguire (2), Liam O’Donovan, Damien Gore, Tadhg Corkery, and Cathail O’Mahony propelled them into an unassailable nine-point lead with 16 minutes left.

Corey Quinn netted for the visitors four minutes from the end but Cork cantered home despite the dismissal of Sean White.

At equally wet and windy Pearse Park, meanwhile, Longford moved onto five points from a possible six courtesy of their 2-14 to 1-9 win over 14-man Leitrim. Michael Quinn and Darragh Rooney netted for either team in the first half, Longford switching ends with a 1-7 to 1-5 lead.

Rian Brady netted the winners’ second major late on, after the visitors had seen full back Fergal McTague sent off.

Longford's Rian Brady and Derry's Shane McGuigan.

In the early throw-in at Celtic Park, Shane McGuigan registered seven times for Derry, who defeated Tipperary by 0-10 to 0-6. The pitch survived two pre-match inspections and the Oak Leaf County laid the platform for success in the first half, turning around 0-4 to 0-3 ahead, having played into the elements.

The scheduled meeting of Louth and Offaly at the Gaelic Grounds was called off due to an unplayable pitch in Drogheda.
