Ulster MFC: Oak Leafers advance to decider

July 01, 2018

Derry manager Paddy Campbell looks to motivate his players before the last period of extra time against Cavan.

Derry will contest the Ulster MFC decider for the fourth consecutive year.

The Oak Leafers got the better of Tyrone by 2-10 to 1-8 in the second game of this evening's semi-final double header at the Athletic Grounds and their reward is a final date with Monaghan.

Full-forward Enda Downey netted an early goal for the Iarlaith Donaghy captained outfit and they led by 1-7 to 0-6 at the halfway stage.

Paddy Campbell's charges enjoyed the best possible start to the second-half when Conleth McGuckin raised their second green flag in the opening minute.

Stephen Grogan replied for the Red Hands soon after but Derry went on to record a deserved victory.
