Cork v Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Great comeback shows that the much needed spirit is back. Not easy to come back from 9 points down away against Cork. Promotion still possible?

Would love to hear some comments from people who were at the game! Positives were the comeback at least the side seems to have some of the old fighting spirit .

Negatives were we put ourselves behind the 8 ball in the first 50 Mins of game !

Then when we got ahead we couldn't finish the job!

That's the stuff lads. That's the stuff!

When did we last reel in a 9 point defect like that?!

Replying To AthboyCelt:  "Wish I had your optimism, I can see a hiding for Meath to be honest. Cork simply will blow Meath away as they are on the ropes now and will kick back, as for confident in beating Fermanagh (we lost to them last year) and Clare (beaten better teams than us in the last year), what is that confidence based on?. We'll do well to avoid relegation."
Hope you had money on it and lost!

Replying To pretender:  "completely agree. We may get zero point out of the last 3 games. Clare and Fermanagh are better teams than us (at the moment). They are more consistent and we are not near that level which is evident. One point is needed and that is going to be a tall ask. Physically Cork will blow us away and we will be wiped at mid field. We cannot win games by not getting parity at mid field. I see some posters going on about promotion?? OMG it would be the worst hing ever that could happen to Meath as to move up we should be winning every game comfortably and develop consistency (ala Tyrone)"
Time to get out from under that black cloud that seems to follow you around!

Galway would have to lose away to Down or at home to Kildare on the final day. Meath need to win their final two games and hope for the best.

Well done lads today on a spirited comeback. Both sides kicked wides so either could have won. It sounded though like Cork lost most of their starting midfield during the course of the game.

That proved all the negative posters wrong. It takes time and patience for a new management setup to settle in to the job. It is simple in terms of the mathematics. We need to win our final 2 games and hope that Galway lose to either Down away next week or Kildare at home on the final day and we are promoted on the head to head rule with both teams on 9 points.

Jesus that was some rollercoaster, back in car long journey home but worth every mile and cent to see that. Keoghan was outstanding motm for me. Andy made the right calls at right time. Some errors cost us the win, however those mistakes can be ironed out. The heart fight and spirit and above all pride in the Jersey was great to see from a Meath team, I had forgotten what it was like to see Meath play with never say die spirit, it brought a tear to the eye.
Fantastic to be on the other end if a 9 point fightback especially away from home.
I'll give a more detailed view later on, starving and cold. What a game.
Hon the royal.

Tears shed on a cold day in March. You really are a die hard fan royaldunne. If only we had more like you. Only it is easier for some to lose faith!

Good to see the fight back today. Unfortunate that we didn't get the win but promotion is still a possibility. Paddy O'Rourke answered some of his critics today. His kickouts were pinpoint all day and dead solid under high balls. Let's keep up the solid run of form against Femenagah.

Fair point Graham but a draw is a good result when last year the team would have collapsed and thrown in the towel. It is a step in the right direction.
