Chin: it's been great to get a championship

Faythe Harriers bowed out of the Wexford SHC at the quarter-final stage at the hands of Shelmaliers yesterday but Lee Chin focused on the positives in his post-match interview.
12 months ago, the Model County star and his club-mates were fighting a relegation battle so reaching the last eight in the 2020 competition represented an achievement in itself.
“We didn’t get off to the start we wanted, I missed a penalty,” he highlighted when speaking to TG4’s GAA BEO following their 1-12 to 0-22 defeat.
“Just a few things probably didn’t go our way today. In hindsight, it’s great to be back here today in a quarter-final considering where we were last year and the last few years.
“Shelmaliers are a very well organised team. They really had their tactics off to a tee. That team is on the road a couple of years now and they are getting it right. They’re always there or thereabouts, semi-final stages. They won a final in 2014, there’s a lot of wise heads on that team
“Today, a little bit of inexperience probably at times with ourselves but that’s a good thing for now because quarter-finals is not a relegation battle we were in the last couple of years. At the end of it, it is a positive finish to the year for us in some respects.
“We’ll be looking into next year now. Hopefully, please God, with everything going right we might get our own lifestyles back in order and hopefully we’ll get a good run at it.”
He concluded: “This year alone, it’s been great to have it, it’s been great to get a championship and it’s been great for our lads, the fact that they are so young, just to get some form of championship in. It was a great competition for us.”
