Fermanagh defender James McMahon believes that the squad certainly benefitted from the McKenna Cup.

The Roslea clubman feels that Rory Gallagher and his selectors have unearthed a number of new players that will strengthen the squad according to the fermanagh Herald.

And the experienced defender is excited by the prospect of seeing these players in action during the course of the NFL.

“I suppose the positives were that were a couple of new fellas who really came in and put their hands up,” said McMahon.

“Darragh McGurn, Johnny Cassidy, Ultan Kelm and Kevin McDonnell all showed up well, there’s four fellas really pushing on for a place that we didn’t have last year who will add extra competition.

“It let us give some of the more experienced boys extra game time and back into the swing of competition, so while the results mightn’t have liked there was a few positives in it.”
