The dust has barely settled on Dublin's record fifth All-Ireland SFC title on the trot and thoughts are already turning to next year's Allianz Football League.

After losing to Monaghan, Kerry and Tyrone in this year's league, the Dubs will be hoping for a better campaign which will see them travel to Mayo, Galway, Tyrone and Donegal, and host Monaghan, Meath and Kerry in their other three Division 1 fixtures.

Every county has been issued with the provisional 2020 Allianz Football and Hurling League fixtures list which will be finalised in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the Lord Mayor of Dublin Paul McAuliffe has defended the decision to hold the official homecoming for the victorious Dublin men's and ladies footballers in Merrion Square next Sunday, September 29.

About 3,500 general release tickets were snapped up within an hour of being made available this morning, while the remaining 11,000 tickets have been allocated to Dublin county board and its clubs.

“Merrion Square is the largest venue Dublin city has which does not involve a closure of the Luas line," the Lord Mayor noted.

“College Green would not hold as many and the great Dublin Bike Ride is taking place in the Phoenix Park that day,” he added.
