Kelly glad to be 'back in the mix'

Westmeath manager Colin Kelly is adamant that they must build on last weekend's win over Wexford.

The Lake County recorded a three-point win down in the sunny south east, and it looked a lot more comfortable than the winning margin suggests as they returned to winning ways after a poor performance against Armagh the week before.

The win sees them jump on to four points and keeps them in the hunt for promotion, but they have no time to rest on their laurels, even though they have this weekend off.

"We're back in the mix," Kelly told the Westmeath Examiner. "We have four points from six, we have won our two away games and we have Derry and Armagh played. All in all, it's going in the right direction."

Kelly revealed that having their destiny in their own hands was a huge advantage and he stressed that the next few games were crucial.

"It's in our own hands and how we approach the next couple of weeks will be vital. All these games are difficult. Our target was not to have less than four points on the board at this stage and we have that achieved."

Westmeath will take on Sligo at Cusack Park, Mullingar in their next outing on Sunday, February 25th.
