Abbeyside book their first Waterford SHC final ticket since 2008 after edging past De La Salle by 0-14 to 0-13 at Fraher Field yesterday.

Former county footballer Mark Ferncombe accounted for eight, three of which came from play, of the winners' points tally including a superb match winner from near the sideline.

Abbeyside held a 0-10 to 0-7 advantage at the break but with the wind at their backs, De La Salle led by 0-13 to 0-12 with 12 minutes of normal time remaining.

However, the city side were unable to score again, spurning a number of opportunities. Shane Ryan had a chance to force a replay for the city side but Abbeyside hung on to win by the minimum.

They now advance to the decider on October 7 when they will face either holders Ballygunner or Passage, who meet in the other semi-final today.
