There is more bad news for Tipperary today with confirmation that Brendan Maher suffered cruciate ligament damage in last Sunday week's Munster SHC defeat to Clare.

The former captain was replaced by Willie Connors after sustaining the injury in the closing stages of the 1-21 to 1-23 loss in Thurles, which ended Tipp's involvement in this year's championship. Maher will undergo sugery next month.

The injury is a huge blow to Maher's club Borrisoleigh as it will keep him out of action until next spring.

Following an injury received in the Munster Championship match against Clare, Brendan Maher will undergo surgery next month on the ACL in his right knee and hopes to return to action early next year. We send best wishes to Brendan for a full recovery.
