Brendan Cummins felt Davy Fitzgerald was unlucky to be sent to the stand during Wexford's Leinster SHC draw with Galway at Pearse Stadium.

The former Tipperary goalkeeper reckoned the Wexford manager's reputation preceded him after he remonstrated with linesman Mickey Dan Murtagh after an apparent foul on Damien Reck by Jason Flynn in the 44th minute went unpunished.

Speaking on The Sunday Game Live, Cummins claimed Fitzgerald was harshly treated.

"It wasn’t spotted by the linesman and Davy came out [to the sideline]. The crowd went’ mad and Davy’s reputation went before him," Cummins said.

"I feel Davy was a bit hard done by there. The referee could have gone over."

He added: "There are going to be a lot of managers sitting above in the stand if we go far that on it. We’ll see during the summer."
