Michael Kerr is Tyrone's new county board chairman following victory at last night's convention in Garvaghey.

The Eire Og Carrickmore club man defeated Roisin Jordan, who held the chair for the past three years, and Cookstown's Damian Harvey for the Red Hand County's top post.

Reports have suggested that there was a three-way split in the voting for the position, with Harvey initially having led before Kerr won out in a tight race.

It makes Kerr the first member from a hurling club to be elected chairman of the Tyrone board.

Earlier in the night, Jordan, who became the first ever female county chairperson in 2014, told the convention in her address that she was considering legal action over "sinister" leaks that were made to undermine her position.
