Despite insisting that he has no interest in the Waterford senior hurling manager’s job at the moment, Dan Shanahan has stressed that he would like to get back involved at some stage down the line.

Shanahan was part of Derek McGrath’s backroom team before they were replaced by Paraic Fanninng and his management for this year’s campaign.

The former Hurler of the Year is player/coach with his club Lismore, while he is also manager of St Mary’s and admitted he was happy doing that.

However, with Derek McGrath stating that he may be interested in a return to the position, Shanahan has not ruled out the possibility of being involved at some stage again.

“I would love to get back involved again if I’m honest with you. We have the players to compete for All-Irelands and Munster titles,” Shanahan told the Waterford News & Star.

“We haven’t won Munster since 2010. For the calibre of player that we have in Waterford, it’s too long. Whoever gets the job, I wish him the best of luck. At the end of the day, I’m a Waterford man so I want to see Waterford win.”
