David Reidy's controversial sending off in this afternoon's Munster SHC clash between Clare and Limerick had many people perplexed.

The Clare wing forward was issued with the harshest of red cards by referee James Owens for bumping into opponent Diarmuid Byrnes during the first half of his side's victory in Ennis. Limerick substitute Tom Condon also received his marching orders in the opening half, but most would agree that was a fair call.

Was the Reidy red a case of the referee trying to balance things up?
