Mayo manager James Horan has stated that defender Paddy Durcan will play no part in their Super 8’s clash against Meath at Croke Park this weekend.

Durcan missed last Sunday’s defeat to Kerry with a quad injury and his manager all but ruled him out of the must win game against the Royals.

The Connacht side are already without Matthew Ruane and captain Diarmuid O’Connor who are sidelined with collarbone and wrist injuries respectively.

“It is unlikely that Patrick Durcan will be fit for next weekend’s game with Meath. He hurt his quad and it’ll be a two to three week injury,” Horan told the Western People.

Horan has to pick up the side up following the defeat to Kerry in Killarney and a further defeat this weekend would almost certainly end their interest in the All-Ireland SFC.
