Donoghue 'bitterly disappointed' by early championship exit

Micheál Donoghue made no attempt to hide his disappointment after the Galway hurlers' season was prematurely ended by Dublin on Saturday night.
The 2017 All-Ireland winning manager, who is expected to be given the green light to see out the final year of his managerial rein, said he couldn't fault the players for effort after they finished bottom of the Leinster SHC round-robin series on scoring difference.
“That’s sport. We’re obviously bitterly, bitterly disappointed. But I’ve said it umpteen times — I’m so proud of these lads. They worked really hard and you have to give huge credit to Dublin," he told the Irish Daily Mirror.
"Goals win games and they got them at the right times. The penalty they got after half-time came (at the right time) but we responded to it well and held them for a while after that. But then they got another one and as I say, goals win matches."
